What's New With Us

There are actually quite a few updates from the Foundation this issue! First, the Lynchburg Community Theatre Festival, sponsored by the Foundation, occurred on January 18, 2025. You can read all about it here, but the big takeway is that it was an enormous success and we are already looking into the future for other events we can create. With this being the first time such a large-scale celebration of every theater in the Greater Lynchburg area has been held, we could not have asked for a better occasion and hope to have opportunities to do more.

Along those lines, the Foundation is proud to announce a new partnership with Radio 434 and TheMIKEShow. As the sponsor of the Theatre Thursday podcast, co-created by Mike McKendree and Mark Foreman, this is a natural collaboration for our organizations. In the near future, the Foundation's website will be going live with the official scheduling of Theatre Thursday interviews. All theaters (including local schools and colleges) will be able to use this link schedule appearances in advance of upcoming shows for an opportunity to promote the cast, crew, and theater. The best part is this is an absolutely free publicity opportunity that both TheMIKEShow and the Foundation are happy to provide for this community. Follow us on Facebook for information about upcoming events involving this partnership.

The February-April printed calendars are here! You can get yours at any local theater when you attend a performance. These calendars have every community theater show performance schedule, so you can plan your weekends out and get around to see as many shows as you like. As always, our online calendar also has links to the individual ticketing pages, as well as separate calendars for audition dates and shows being performed at the educational level. You can also follow the theaters for information about ushering or volunteering at performances for a chance to see the show at no cost!

Finally, we have a minor update regarding our newsletter. Having been in publication for over a year, we have made the decision to go from bimonthly to quarterly issues. This allows us more time to develop the articles, conduct interviews, and bring you more updates and information. We have some special stories being discussed and are looking to collaborate with community members who love to write and have ideas for features that would fit the theme and mission of Scenes from the Hat. If you have an idea or would love to particpate, please contact us here and let us know!

If you would like to donate to our mission, our donation page allows for one-time and monthly recurring donations. The Foundation pays for all tickets used in giveaways, two biannual Director Grant awards of $1,000.00, printed calendars for the theaters, and events such as the Lynchburg Community Theatre Festival. Your donations will go a long way in supporting us as well as the entire performing arts community in the Greater Lynchburg Community. As a 501c3 non-profit, all donations are tax deductible. Thank you so much for your consideration!
